We are always so excited when new items are release, but sometimes we are get really, crazy excited and this new line from Tattered Angels is one of those times. Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins is not your ordinary paper, oh no, it is something quite special.
Let’s start with the anatomy of this new paper:
- It is 12×12
- It is printed on both sides
- It is printed with black ink with amazing shading going on
- The textures you see really do look 3d in person
- The paper has a cloth-like feel
- It feels extra thick
- It works amazing with water-based paints and textured mediums
- Unlike most papers it is hard to tear
- The paint stays live for a bit, but the paper absorbs quickly and dries fast
- You can paint in layers on this paper
- Of course it is perfect with all Tattered Angels Paints – it is especially suited for the Mists that are translucent and semi-transluscent allowing the textures and shading to show through
- It is great for die cutting or fussy cutting the pieces, they feel very different from standard paper die cuts
- The paper is made in the USA
So now you know a bit about the papers, let’s show you a bit about the design, starting with Bloom. This is one of our favs and oh so fun to color. Adult coloring is so hot right now and unlike much of the adult coloring art these days, they designers are very details and the art is rather flat. Not so with Mixed Media Origins, but they are perfect for Adult Coloring and work with pencils, markers, watercolors, mists, paints, pastels, distress inks, glimmer glaze, glimmer glam, high impact and the list goes on and on.
The papers were designed two-sided so they could be easily cut and or sewn to make art journals, cards, tags and more. For layouts, mixed media art pieces and other single sided, you can decide which side or fold the paper over and get the best of both worlds.
JoAnne created this special When you look closely you will find layers of art on top of art which gives it a great mixed media feel before you start.
You can paint all or part of the art and you can stay in and outside of the lines – there are no rules with this paper, but there is one thing you need to know – it is habit forming. This paper is the perfect match for Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and the entire Mist collection – they float on top and then settle right in and the end result is stunning!!!
Are you ready to see all of the designs…..drum roll please……
The collection touches on a wide range of themes and styles, so there is sure to be at least one paper you fall in love with, from architecture to vintage and from shabby chic to farmhouse and pretty things in between. The colors that are chosen and the painting style can also transform any of these papers into your personal style.
Here are a few sneak peeks of some of the paper projects with many more posts and ideas to come:
Lynne created this very colorful version of the Nature paper, with warm tones and soft details.
How fun to play with the colors by simply pouring a touch of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist on a plate or paint palette and applying with a brush, so fun and so beautiful.
Linda is teasing us with her painted roses and then she fussy cut them, but has not unveiled her project yet….more to come. The paper is amazing cut and it holds up so well.
Marie Nicole is going to show us how to turn them into appliqués…..
And Donna takes a brighter approach on the Creative DIY project she is working on…..
The black and white papers allow you to transform them to coordinate with any color palette and are a great companion with the Canvas Corp Basic Printed papers….fun way to create layouts and altered scrapbook pages.
Vicki Ross had fun painting this one with color dripping in all the right places.
Lisa Kettell added her own art layer with this amazing seahorse that is filled with amazing color. The paper is a perfect backdrop for your own art, convert the art on the paper to your own or make the art your own with your personal colors, techniques and styles.
So now you have a taste of what is yet to come. No two are alike, no two are the same style, no two are the same color-way and everyone of them is beautiful.
