Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology. The it does to Steampunk Art it mixes modern ideas and technology with those from the past. Full of mini gears, rusty textures and colour and other metal embellishments, this art is overflowing with textures and dimensions.
Some of our Crew members have taken on the idea and put their crafty skills as well as numerous Tattered Angels mists to use… here’s what they came up with.
Lucky & Lucy – Lena Stain
I altered a pair of binoculars found in a flea market. I turned them into Lucky and Lucy – a winged steampunk couple. – says Lena.
Colors used are Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists: Tattered Leather, Coffee Shop, Tokyo, Vintage Brass, Dragonfly, Walnut Gold, Key Lime Pie, Sugar Maple. Plain Jane Baseboard mists: Grass and Chocolate Brown.
More of Lena’s work can be found on her blog and Instagram.
SteamPunk box – Vicky Fortier aka Crafting Vicky
I was making a box using a Jen of Eve design template and I decided to make it steampunk. The wonderful Tattered Angels Rust Set was perfect to accomplish this look. – shares Vicky.
Vicky used Tattered Angels Rusty Metal – Bare Metal. Other materials used: spakling compound, chipboard, metal gears, chipboard gears, paint brush, moss pearl paint from DecoArt, metal handle, 2 metal hinges, 4 brads, wine corks cut up to make feet, e6000 glue, paper from Jen of eve design template
Gollum – Lena Stain
I purchased the Imagine Online Class with Finnabair. It was a truly great experience! This is the outcome of the class. I call my canvas “Gollum”. – shares her inspiration Lena.
Lena used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists: Dragonfly, Rolling Tide and Jack Frost. She also used lots of lace from her stash, Finnabair Art Basic Black Heavy Gesso and White Heavy Gesso.
We do hope that you enjoyed the inspiration!
Happy crafting!
