It’s Wings on Wednesday time and this week we have something completely else than usual for you!
Our Crew member, Lena Stain, made cyberpunk-inspired canvas with black Mixed Media Origins wings as the centre piece. A swan breaking out of an egg, waking up to life – Break Free is a dark but how beautiful representation of how we all are individuals and should not allow anyone to compartmentalise us.
Let’s have a closer look at this Tattered Angels beauty!
‘I love wings, don’t you? I love them in any shape or form. When I saw the fantastic paper from Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins “Grace”, I thought of a Swan. But how to do the head? Well, I go to fleamarkets all the time and I was lucky to find a salt and pepper yar with a silver swan on it.
I removed the actual Swan head and together with the Tattered Angels Grace Wings – my Black Swan was born. Black Swans are so cool and at the same time – beautiful. They stand out, they are different and bold. So I thought of the title “Break Free – Embrace your individuality” and then went to work on my Mixed Media Canvas.’ – says Lena about her project.
‘On this canvas I have, as always, used a lot of metal embellishments, either found in fleamarkets, in jewellery stores or in different craft stores. The egg that the Swan is breaking out of was also a fleamarket find – I went out shopping during Easter time and of course found lots of different types of eggs.
In my video, I give you some information on how I went about to complete this project.’ – continues her story Lena.
