Tired of the cold and snow, Cheryl Chambers grabbed her Tattered Angels Color Wash paints and made a bright garden sign to display in her house while waiting for all the bees, birds and dragonflies to wake up.
Inspired by Spring, I created a wooden sign to be used indoors.
I love dragonflies and thought that this one would be the perfect focal point for this home decor piece.
Materials Cheryl used:
1/4 inch plywood board
Tattered Angels Color Wash Paint Faux Finish – Weathered Copper
Tattered Angels Color Wash Paint – Blue Lagoon
Tattered Angels Mixed Media Mini Origins Art Collection – Wings – Dragonfly
Green and white acrylic paint
hook rug backing
vintage dictionary page covered in resin
gauze, vintage lace, bailing wire
drill, wire cutters, needle nose pliers
I used a piece of 1/4 inch plywood and gave it a layer of Color Wash in Blue Lagoon and Weathered Copper.
I then used acrylic paint in green and white to add more color.
Once the acrylic was dry, I sanded it down in spots to reveal the Color Wash.
I then painted the word “garden” in white acrylic.
I colored the Mixed Media Origins dragonfly art and fussy-cut it out.
I used some scraps of hook rug backing, gauze and text to add texture to the focal point.
I glued the dragon fly on top of all that.
I used a drill to add two holes at the top of the board and added heavy wire.
I just twisted the wire into a knot to secure it to the board. I added a piece a vintage lace to finish it off.
Now, I have this beautiful garden sign on my wall bringing spring and colour into my house while waiting for the nature to finally start waking up.
Have a great day!
