Happy New Year!!! We enter 2016 with our passion for creating. We are putting an emphasis on products that we hope will kick start the creative process this year, while at the same time unleashing your personal style, a color palette that moves you and techniques that you enjoying doing.
We kick things off with one of our favorite new papers, that will be unveiled this week at the CHA 2016. It is part of the new Canvas Corp Heirloom Collection. We gave it a simple name, ‘Brushes.’ a simple word for elegant, vintage paint brush and paint art that when put together, create a beautiful ensemble of vintage engraving art.
We love the idea of transforming the black and ivory art into works of beauty with Tattered Angels Paints. We have listed the colors we used, but the wonderful part of this project is you can choose your favorite paint colors.
What you will need:
- Canvas Corp 12×12 Heirloom Collection: Brushes on Ivory
- Canvas Corp 12×12 Black & Ivory Plaid on Ivory
- Canvas Corp 225′ Jute Cord
- Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze – Sangria, Blue Oasis, Saffron, Sweet Pea Pod
- Tattered Angles Simply Sheer Mist – Aqua
- Tattered Angels Baseboard Mist – Cardboard
Tools: paint brush, small hole punch, scissors, paper cutter, heat gun (optional)
Step 1: Mist the Plaid Paper with quick pumps from the Aqua Sheet Mist. This makes the spots you see on the paper.
Then with the Glimmer Glaze paint lines as even or uneven as you wish. We like the whimsical look of the more uneven, hand painted lines. You decide how you would like to do it. Each of the Glimmer Glaze paints comes with a tiny paint brush in the lid. You can use this brush or choose a fine tip or wider tip to get the look you want. Let dry and then cut the card 10″ wide x 7″ tall and fold to create your A7 greeting card size.
Step 2: Time for a little more adult coloring. With the Glimmer Glaze paint brush, simply color in the paint brush tips of your choice. When they are dry fussy cut them and set aside to add to your card.
Step 3: Paint one of the vintage house paint brushes with your choice of Glimmer Glaze color and use the Saffron to create the “brass” metal on the brush. Then stain the wood of the brush by applying Baseboard Mist with a brush. Let dry and then cut out. With a small hole punch made room for a bit of jute to add to the brush.
Step 4: Place the fussy cut paint brushes onto the card as shown.
So you had a little fun painting and now you are ready to share this card with a special painter in your life. Maybe a fine artist, maybe that special someone who painted a room in the house for you or maybe that friend who is just learning to express themselves through their painting. The colors you choose make it the perfect card for anyone!!!
There is more where this came from. The new Heirloom Collection is a treasure of vintage creative art that is just perfect for your next project. We will be adding new products to the collection as they are ready for shipping throughout the month of January. Love those glazes. They look like loads of transparent fun. Nice job on the card. I’ve had a bit of a try with hand tinting black and white photos. That was fun too. 😀
