Candy Corn Monogram Wreath

I can’t even begin to express HOW easy this project is! I was looking into creating a door wreath for my yearly Halloween decor. But this year, I wanted to stand out on the block and do something a little different and unexpected. I was trying to determine how I could create a “wreath” without creating an actual “wreath,” if that makes any sense at all!

We have these brand new stretched triangle canvases  in the shop in natural canvas, black and burlap. It struck me as the perfect canvas for candy corn decor, so I decided to make THIS my wreath. Of course I had to add a monogram, considering it’s the wreath to my house, but heck, isn’t it a cute non-wreath wreath?!

Follow these simple steps to re-create this DIY in less than 30 minutes, SERIOUSLY! For convenience purposes, I added a tutorial sheet that you can download and take on the run. There’s also a widget that includes all the materials used in this post. Check it out!

Supplies:

  • Stretched Canvas Triangle
  • Tattered Angels Mist Kit, Spooky
  • Yellow Canvas Flower
  • Chalkstock Paper
  • Wicked Gypsy Spider Charm
  • Masking Tape
  • Glue

Steps:

1. Tape off canvas triangle into thirds (see diagram)

2. Cover the middle and bottom section with paper to prevent runoff. Mist the top 1/3 and let dry.

3. Remove the paper and cover the middle and upper section with paper. Mist the bottom 1/3 and let dry.

4. Remove the paper. For a strict color line, re-apply masking tape to cover accordingly and cover the top and bottom with scrap paper. Mist the center portion. If you’re looking for a color blend (see below), there’s no need to cover the top and bottom sections.

5. Using a die cut machine, cut the monogrammed letter from the chalkstock paper. If you don’t have a die cut machine, use a stencil or print off a template on the computer. Trace and cut it out.

6. Glue the letter to the canvas flower, and the spider charm to the letter. Then glue the flower into place.
