Mixed Media Triangle Pumpkin

I recently got my hands on Canvas Corp’s new triangle canvas. I’ve never seen a stretched canvas in the shape of a triangle, so I was excited to play with it! For one reason or another, this is the perfect craft surface for Halloween/fall. For example, it can be a Candy Corn, or turn it upside down and it makes a Witches Hat. These triangles are available in natural canvas, burlap and black canvas, so there are many different options. I decided to create a mixed media pumpkin using Tattered Angels paints and modeling paste. Here’s how:
First, I glued down the rope to create the grooves of the pumpkin, and then I created texture by adding modeling paste over the Crafters workshop stencil, Persian Gate. From there I covered the canvas with gesso and misted with pumpkin spice and brown glimmer mist.

I found creating the stem to be a little more challenging I tried several different things but finally, fellow Creative Crew member Kimberly Newman suggested using a toilet paper roll and twisting it to create the woody stem. I was surprised at how well it worked after my failed attempts using other materials! I added some leaves that I created with a leaf stamp from Scrap Fx, Army Green Simply Sheer and Tattered Angels frayed cotton hand made paper.  This paper is amazing. It’s of a thicker consistency, but is still shapeable. Not to mention how well it holds the paint.

I topped it off by adding a banner that I cut from the canvas fringe and stamped with the alphabet clear stamp.

This was a fun project to create, and will work great with my holiday decor. Thanks for stopping by, feel free to comment to let me know your thoughts, or visit me on my blog, My Scrap Therapy!
