Faux Moss Balls

We have an incredibly easy DIY for you to try today. This tutorial is for faux moss  balls that can be added to any floral arrangement for added greenery. We were amazed when we went to purchase additional moss balls for a centerpiece and found that they were near $20 for one! As DIYers, we knew we could find a cheaper alternative, and we did just that. The best part is that we can not only use them in floral arrangements but also wedding centerpieces, wreaths, Christmas tree ornaments, in topiary designs, etc.

Here’s the tutorial for creating Faux Moss Balls. Don’t forget to save the free tutorial sheet at the end of this post!

Difficulty level: fun & simple

Time to complete: 1 hour

Materials:

  • Styrofoam Ball- any size
  • Glimmer Mist- Woven Burlap
  • Glimmer Mist- Olive Vine
  • Chalkboard Mist- Sprout
  • High Impact Paint- Avocado
  • Glimmer Glaze- Cowboy

Tools: paint brush, paint mat

Steps:

1. Prepare work surface with non-stick paint mat or cardboard box to capture over-spray.

2. Shake each bottle well before misting. Mist the entire styrofoam ball with Olive Vine (don’t worry if a little white is still showing).

3. Mist Woven Burlap Glimmer Mist and Sprout Chalkboard Mist randomly all over, turning the ball as you mist. The goal is to cover all of the white areas. Dry.
