Hey, Juli Riedel here with you today sharing my watercolor greeting card. I love watercolors however I am still a novice when it comes to working using the technique! Things never turn out how I intend! So… I challenged myself to give it another try and I pulled out my TA Glimmer Mists and TA Pure Mistable Paper! The paper when combined with the Glimmer Mists, reacts like magic! A nice alternative to watercolor paper. This is an easy project that used stamps with the Glimmer Mist instead of ink to add color with water.
Materials used:
Tattered Angels Pure Mistable Paper – Frayed Cotton
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – It’s Orange, Safari Green, Dragonfly, Party Pink, Cardinal Red, Blue Ribbon, Pearl
Tattered Angels Color Wash Paint – French Roast
Canvas Corp 12×12 paper – Green and Ivory French Linen Stripe
Stamping Platform
Watercolor Brushes
Heat Tool
To get started, I used the Tattered AngelsPure Mistable Paper! The TA Mistable Paper works beautifully with TA Glimmer mist and water.
First I stamped the stems in TA Colorwash Brown. I did not have Glimmer Mist in brown, I used what was in my stash TA Colorwash Paint. Then I stamp the flowers in the TA Glimmer Mist. I just brushed it on the stamp and using a stamping platform, stamp the image.
Then I used the TA Glimmer Mist in the Blue Ribbon and Moss Green with water to fill in the background. This provided a soft color and then I dried with a heat tool.
I continued to stamp different color flowers and leaves using the TA Glimmer Mist on the stamps.
I added some drops from my brush and then dried with a heat tool. To finish the look, I used TA Glimmer Mist in Pearl to give a shimmer color.
Happy with the main card, I then used CC Green and White Striped Card stock and Architextures Paintable Corrugated Cardboard. These I layered onto 110 card stock and put the WaterColor on top.
I finished off the card with some baker’s twine, a tag that says spring and a butterfly!
Super easy to make and lots of fun!
Simple and distressed, it has an awesome watercolor effect! I will definitely try this technique again!
I hope that you will try your hand at watercolor stamping!
