This time of year when daylight is far from present in the Northern hemisphere, we need all kind of positive vibes to give us energy and keep us going. Why not send a happy & bright card to someone that you think needs the pick-me-up? Our Holiday Miscellanies collection is filled with fun & funky papers! This trendy collection of papers is all about mixing and matching to create the look and feel you want for your everyday decor as well as Halloween, Fall, Patriotic, Valentine, 4th of July, Christmas and Winter Projects.
Simple patters in traditional colors look amazing together to create projects. You will find touches of holiday here and there, but the basic designs are perfect to mix up and also use as backgrounds or holiday focal points.
Crew Member Marie Johansson shows us a fun way to make a card using one piece of paper…it is all in how you fold it up. “I have prepared these mixed media style cards using one single piece of paper – yes that is right – one paper! I used the Royal Blue Patchwork on Ivory 12×12 that offer six different patterns on one paper,” says Marie.
The Holiday Miscellanies papers come in two different 12 x 12 versions: one with 6 assorted patterns that each measure 4 x 6, and the other with an allover single pattern. The 4 x6 pieces make great mini books, cards and other smaller scale project making them so fun and easy to work with. Only a few designs have seasonal icons so save what is left and use them anytime.
By mixing pieces from the different patterns together with tags, flowers, cheese cloth, and different texture mediums we created dimension and structure.
Punch the papers with simple punches to make your own tags. The weight of the paper is 80# so it is perfect for tags and embellishments as well as card bases.
We basically used the same “ingredients” for both cards. This is what you will need from the Canvas Corp Brands Store to make something similar:
Printed Cardstock “Navy on Ivory”
Tattered Angels Baseboard Mist “Sky”
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist “Navy Blue”
You also will need a selection of flowers, texture paste, micro beads, glue, and your favorite tools.
Cut your cardstock into the card size you prefer, and then apply the patterned paper. From this stage it’s just your imagination that can stop you. Try to layer torn strips & punched out pieces of patterned paper. Combine it with tags stacked together and use flowers, cord and your chosen mediums to finish off your card.
Marie’s beautiful card will give you so many ideas and will inspire! Don’t be afraid to play with your stash!
We’d love to to see what you create! Tag us on any of our social media sites and we’ll find you! Also, don’t forget to join our Facebook group, Canvas Corp Brands Collective, to share your creations and see what’s happening at CCB!
