Canvas Corp Holiday Baking: Santa’s Recipe Sleigh
Kathy shares all the details on how to create this fun holiday project on her blog, Kathy by Design. Make one for yourself or for holiday gifts. If you don’t have a sleigh to redo, stop by your local craft or holiday shop and see if they have a sleigh that could use a few crafty touches.
Kathy shares on her blog, “this is probably my favorite holiday project so far this year!” She had a ball updating the sleigh with a variety of Tattered Angels paints and mediums from Deco Art.
Tags from Canvas Corp’s Christmas Tags on Ivory look great and are just the right scale for this perfect little sleigh. Decorate the outside with 7gypsy Santa’s Journey charms, ribbons, pom pons, flowers from Petaloo and other little goodies you have in your stash.
Both sides and back of the sleigh are dressed in holiday finery. This red sentiment panel is from Holiday Baking Butcher Paper on Ivory. The panels are the perfect size for cards, too.
You can mist trims, flowers or lace with Tattered Angels Mists and Paints to coordinate with your project and color theme .
What fun to use basic little touches like bells, chenille stems and pom pons to decorate your sleigh.
Now, for the inside of the sleigh, where Kathy has a little handmade holiday recipe book tucked away.
Kathy mentioned, “I picked up this vintage spoon while visiting my girlfriend in Atlanta.” We have to say it is the perfect accent piece for this recipe book sleigh.
Hand-written recipes are cherished treasures, especially during the holidays. With simple, classic designs to 7gypsies vintage style, recipe cards from Canvas Corp and 7gypsies are sure to be the right style and size for your project.
The fun sayings found in the Farmhouse Christmas and Holiday Baking Collections make great additions to the recipe book and recipes.
Touches of Canvas Corp Ticking add a vintage feel. Ticking was once used to create down feathers pillows, to keep the soft feathers inside. Now, it is a new hot crafting fabric, maybe it will become as hot as burlap.
Kathy says it perfectly!!!! “Why yes, Life IS better with fresh baked cookies!”
Here is Kathy’s family’s favorite Christmas Cookie recipe, written on a sweetly vintage recipe card. There’s just something special about a family recipe – written out in your own hand – it becomes an instant keepsake.
Stay tuned next week for a fantastic round-up from the Crew that features cookie recipes, for those upcoming cookie exchanges at work, in the neighborhood or with good friends. Consider handwriting your recipes this year.
