Make Your Own Christmas Cards

Now is the time to create you design, gather your supplies and begin making your Christmas cards.  Whether making 1 or 100 it is good to determine your design, gather your supplies, tools and enjoy the process, so there is no creative stress as the holidays get closer and closer.

Making your own cards is so personal and means so much to the person opening your envelope.  There is no need to make the extremely elaborate, just a classy, simply design that you put together yourself.  With all the great tools out there on the market from die cut machines and metal punches to paper trimmers and scoring tools making a larger quantity of cards is easier than ever.

If you are looking for papers that fit your style, Canvas Corp Brands might just have what you are looking for with a range of different Christmas styles and themes – Farmhouse Christmas, Jolly Christmas, Holiday Baking and Santa’s Journey

Steps to creating and making your own Christmas Cards:

1- choose your style – elegant, fun, woody, farmhouse, vintage, playful, photographs, funny, serious, religious, the choices are many

2 – decide your card size – 5″x7″, 6″x6″ or 4″x9″ are standard sizes, the key is make sure you can find envelopes to match.  You can really have a lot of fun and use the Canvas Corp 12″x12″ envelope and make amazing over-sized cards.

3 – decide the layout – you can try a few different options to see what you like better, keep in mind if you are making 25 or more, you don’t want to make them too complicated.  Use the help of your tools wherever you can to speed up the process.

4 – producing your pieces – you will want to prepare all the pieces first and then assemble your cards, so count how many of each you will need and make each part all at once, saves time and helps them to be accurate in size and shape.

5 – assembling your cards – you can add one piece to each card like an assembly line or grab from each pile and make one card at a time.

6 – send out your cards and make someone so happy!!

Here are some cards we are sure will get the juices flowing:

1 – Holiday Baking Cards – consider making baking themed cards and even including your favorite cookie recipe.  Fussy cut pieces from the Canvas Corp Holiday Baking Collection and looked hand stamped.  Start with a Kraft & Canvas Stitched Card as a base for a simply handmade look.

IMG_29722 – Painted Cards – Kyriakos shows us how to add color to the black and ivory papers of the Canvas Corp Farmhouse Papers on Ivory – you can use your favorite markers, pens, watercolor, mist, paint, inks and more.  Adult coloring is relaxing and each card is truly hand painted.  Choose unusual card bases such as the White & Black Postcards or the Black & White Ribbon Stripe that are perfect for your background cards.  The weight of Canvas Corp Papers is 80# and they are blank on the inside so they are a great choice for making your holiday cards.    These cards also feature the Farmhouse Christmas, the touches of red and lime green give them such a great look.
