Do you know Riley the Moose? Crew Member Barb Housner introduces us to Riley with a fun collection of Fall cards. We did our homework and here is a bit about Riley….Riley was originally born in Detriot, Michigan at the hand of Kristi Ferro and her crew at Hanna Stamps. Like most of us, Riley decided he needed a change of pace and moved to Shawnee, Kansas. He has a lovely new home at the local stamp store called Stamper’s, Ink!
Stamper’s, Ink is owned by Tanya Kostynuk and has help from some really cool gals! The store has a fierce Riley following and they have been voted Kansas City’s #1 Arts and Crafts Store two years in a row! If you live the in the Kansas City area or are passing through, this shop should be added to your must-see list.
The stamp line is called Riley and Company and the tag line is ‘see what you’ve been moosing’!!!!
Barb matched up Tattered Angels Pumpkin Patch Paint Kit with a fun Riley The Moose Stamp – Popping Pumpkin Riley
I have a daughter who lives in Alaska and they see moose weekly if not daily so I make moose cards to send to them. This moose jumping out of the pumpkin throwing leaves in the air reminds me so much of the fall season. As long as you are making one card, you might as well make a couple to say hello to a few more friends or family. The background for the stamping was done with Tattered Angels and a piece of acetate to achieve the highly technical smooshing background color.
Matching up a stamp and paint set is a great way to get a variety of colors and show off the focal point of the stamp.
Materials Used:
Tattered Angels Calendar Mist Kit –
Pumpkin Patch
Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist Paint
Valencia
Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist Paint
Canary
Tattered Angels Baseboard Mist Paint
Wave
Tattered Angels High Impact Paint
Orange
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
Gilded Gold
Canvas Corp Printd Cardstock –
Chocolate on Kraft
Canvas Corp Cord-
Jute Balls Natural
String pulled from piece of red burlap
Watercolor paper
rubber stamp and ink
Tools Used: Paper Cutter; Misti; Dies ; Die Cut Machine; Piece of Acetate
Step 1 – Die cut watercolor paper for your card front. Make background on card front. Take a piece of acetate and spray one the Yellow Chalkboard Paint. Sprtiz a little water on it and smoosh it onto your card front. Do this with the Valencia color. Keep repeating until you achieve the color you want for your background. No two are every the same as you can see from the pictures.
Step 2 – Watercolor paper is hard to stamp on and get a good stamped image. I used my Misti so that I could restamp the image several times until I got the look I wanted.
Step 3 – Here is how it looks so nicely stamped.
Step 4 – Color the image with various Tattered Angels paints and mists to get the perfect fall image. At this point I decided the card front was too large so recut it with a smaller die cut.
Step 5 – Stamp sentiment. Cut mats out of brown paper. Tie twine or pieces of thread from red burlap piece around card front.
Step 6 – Assemble cards and then spray a light coating of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Guilded Gold to give some sparkle to the cards.
If you are every in the area, make sure you stop in and say hi to Riley!
Happy Creating!!!!
