Spellbinders Partner Hop

Today we are featuring two projects as a part of the Spellbinders Holiday blog hop. Scroll to the bottom of the post to enter to win! (For details on the hop, read Spellbinder’s Original Post)

Our first post if from the amazingly talented Lynne Forsythe of  The Next Best Thing.

Christmas is right around the corner, and time is about to become a premium! With that in mind, I created simple yet beautiful projects using Spellbinder dies and the oh sooo gorgeous Farmhouse Christmas Collection by Canvas Corp Brands.

My first creation was my Gift Card Tree Tag. I don’t know about you but I prefer to buy gift cards for my adult children because then I know they will buy something they really want and will use!

giftcert

I created a pictorial tutorial on how I created my Gift Card Tree Tag.

I began by cutting our two tags, one from Canvas Corp Brands Farmhouse Christmas paper and the other from a piece of Ivory cardstock. Then using one of the Border Dies from the Bow Couture Shapeabilities Dies I cut a bow into the Farmhouse Christmas Tag.

giftcardtag

I then cut a 2.25” x 2.25” piece of Canvas Corp Brands ~ Natural Linen Paper and painted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam ~ Roses R Red.

giftcardtag2

When dry, I used the complimenting insert from the Bow Couture Shapeabilities Dies.

giftcardtag3

I pulled out a few of my 7gypsies goodies, Mini Keys and Jump Rings along with some White Mini Bags from Canvas Corp Brands.

giftcardtag4

I used the 7gypsies goodies along with “Happy Holidays” cut from the Farmhouse Christmas Stripe on Ivory, to embellishment my Gift Card Tree Tag and to hold the tags together.

giftcardtag5

I adhered the embossed and colored Bow Couture to the tag along with the Mini Bag.

giftcardtag6

And tied a piece of Canvas Corp Brands Hemp Rope ~ Black around the tag.

giftcardtag7

Attached the two tags together for an Easy Peasy Gift Card Tree Tag.

I couldn’t stop creating with the Spellbinder’s dies so I made 2 bonus projects using Spellbinder’s Nestabilities ~ Majesty Dies

Two Simply Elegant Christmas Cards

its

I just love the Farmhouse Christmas Tags on Ivory. They were the PERFECT additions to my Simply Elegant Christmas Cards.

wishing

Our second post comes from the mixed media maven, Misty Russell of My Scrap Therapy .

I altered a canvas using the Farmhouse Christmas papers.  The collaged look of this paper is perfect for piecing out images for cards and other art projects, but it in this case it made my job super easy creating a perfect collaged background without actually doing the work. frame

First, I tore the paper to fit the size of the canvas, then decoupaged it to the canvas.  From there I whitewashed over the paper and painted the sides of the canvas with gesso.  Then I painted over the entire canvas with High Impact Platinum,  and used some High impact Gold to  “stain” the edges.   I wanted a little more grungy and aged look so I also misted the edges with “it’s brown” as well.

  frame2

I created the center of my canvas using the beautiful “regal” frame die from Spellbinders and Tattered angels Cashmere paper. To crate the sentiment I used some 7Gypsies alphas.  After glueing the alphas down I primed the frame and alphas with gesso and then applied more “platinum” and “gold” high impact paint as well.

frame3

Joy_2

Finally I taped the frame down with some 3d adhesive and because I’m a bit obsessed with wings I decided to add some inside the slits of the frame.

Thank you to our wonderful designers, Misty and Lynne, for inspiring us with their creativity. For more ideas and inspiration from Canvas Corp Brands, follow us on Instagram, @canvascorpbrands!
