Spring Showers Easter Cards

Our Crew Member, Marie Johansson used the paper to cut out details to add on her Easter style cards. 

For this first card, I cut out and used the flowers from the paper. I painted them with Watercolor pencils and then used them in my flower cluster. The Critters & Crawlers on Kraft paper fits perfectly as background. I also cut out the one of the moths from the Spring Garden paper, but left it without any paint.

My second card also has Easter theme but for this one I choose blue shades. The egg and egg basked made me think of that light blue color that some eggs have and that was my inspiration for this card’s color scheme.

I wanted to try a new technique on this card – a sort of wet crackle effect that I had been thinking of. I gave it a try and really love the effect (if you look closely, you can see it). The technique is simple and fits impatient crafters, like myself. Simply apply white gesso to your surface, dribble on paint (I used Tattered Angels Mist), use a dry brush to mobilize the paint over the surface then when apply your crackle medium with a spatula or finger. Now you dry it! This gives you a deeper crackle effect and the crackle paste/gesso/paint blend unevenly and dry differently depending on how thick the layers are.
