To help celebrate the beginning of summer and my sister’s upcoming birthday, I wanted to make a summer seashell wall hanging. I wanted to experiment with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists in different mixed media applications! I love how Glimmer Mists mix with different mixed media mediums such as gesso, crackle paste and canvas. I was going for a blended ombre look and I love the results from using the Glimmer Mists. Some seashells and sisal grass with glass beads add to the beach look! Easy to make and it will be a fantastic birthday gift for my sister! Enjoy!
Materials used:
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Dragonfly
Tattered Angels Calendar Kit Paint – Snowfall
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze – Night Blue
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam- Grandma’s House
Round Canvas Base
Crackle Paste, Seashells, Sisal, Glass beads
To get started, I used a round canvas board and stenciled some lines with crackle paste and let dry.
Then I sprayed on the various TA Glimmer Mists to give an ombre effect.
You can use a baby wipe or paint brush to blend.
Once the Glimmer Mist is dry, I stenciled on with a circle stencil more crackle paste and let dry completely.
I went back over the circles which are “bubbles” and sprayed more Glimmer Mist.
I love the effect!
Once everything was dry, I started layering with seashells, a cut out foam core frame and seahorse and sisal. I covered the seashells with white Gesso let dry and then started to spray TA Glimmer Mists all over to match the background.
I love the shimmer and sparkle that Glimmer Mists give!
I added some art stones and glass beads to complete the under the sea look!
I love all the sparkle and shimmer with Glimmer Mists!
They work fantastic with many different types of mediums!
This was a fun project to make and I hope that you will enjoy making one for yourself!
